Changes in organic matter contents and carbon stocks in Dutch soils, 1998–2018

چکیده

Changes in soil organic matter (SOM) content and carbon (SOC) stock the 0–30 cm 30–100 layers between 1998 2018 Netherlands were estimated by repeated sampling of 1152 locations Soil Sampling Programme (SSP). These selected following a stratified simple random design. We discuss various barriers we met: restricted accuracy information on bulk density, uncertainties due to positional errors, differences support, changes laboratory analysis methods since 1998. Domains interest such as mineral soils defined either basis stratification SSP sample (geomatching) or profiles observed at (classmatching). The mean SOM changed significantly layer (-17.68 gkg-1) entire area (non-built-up Netherlands) (at 5% significance level). A decrease could be shown for under cropland if classmatching was applied level), but no change this remaining domains interest, whether geomatching applied. For soils, significant classmatching: ?8.59 gkg-1 ?4.75 grassland. calculations indicate that SOC stocks decreased both density data needs improved future measurements increase changes.

Organic Carbon and Organic Matter Levels in Sediments of the Strait of Hormoz, the Persian Gulf

Total organic carbon has a major influence on both the chemical and biological processesthat take place in sediments. Algal bloom is one of the organic carbon levels in aquatic ecosystems. In 2009 algal bloom occurred in the Hormozgan province and prolonged for months, which finally setteled down in 2010. In this study the variations of total organic carbon (TOC), organic matter (TOM) and tot...

Digital Mapping of Soil Organic Carbon Contents and Stocks in Denmark

Estimation of carbon contents and stocks are important for carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas emissions and national carbon balance inventories. For Denmark, we modeled the vertical distribution of soil organic carbon (SOC) and bulk density, and mapped its spatial distribution at five standard soil depth intervals (0-5, 5-15, 15-30, 30-60 and 60-100 cm) using 18 environmental variables as pre...

Soil Organic Carbon Pools and Stocks in Permafrost-Affected Soils on the Tibetan Plateau

The Tibetan Plateau reacts particularly sensitively to possible effects of climate change. Approximately two thirds of the total area is affected by permafrost. To get a better understanding of the role of permafrost on soil organic carbon pools and stocks, investigations were carried out including both discontinuous (site Huashixia, HUA) and continuous permafrost (site Wudaoliang, WUD). Three ...

Organic carbon stocks and sequestration rates of forest soils in Germany

The National Forest Soil Inventory (NFSI) provides the Greenhouse Gas Reporting in Germany with a quantitative assessment of organic carbon (C) stocks and changes in forest soils. Carbon stocks of the organic layer and the mineral topsoil (30 cm) were estimated on the basis of ca. 1.800 plots sampled from 1987 to 1992 and resampled from 2006 to 2008 on a nationwide grid of 8 × 8 km. Organic lay...

Sorption, degradation and leaching of pesticides in soils amended with organic matter: A review

The use of pesticides in modern agriculture is unavoidable because they are required to control weeds. Pesticides are poisonous; hence, they are dangerous if misused. Understanding the fate of pesticides will be useful to use them safely. Therefore, contaminations of water and soil resources could be avoided. The fates of pesticides in soils are influenced by their sorption, decomposition and m...
